**Melanie Grant** is a journalist who works at the _Economist_. She has also worked at the BBC, the _Financial Times, The Times_ and the _Independent_, amongst others. She is luxury editor of the _Economist's_ sister publication _1843_, for which she writes, styles, and commissions, editing an annual jewelry supplement. Grant speaks regularly on watches and jewelry at events and prestigious venues.
