### Author Biography

**Bette Howland** (1937-2017) published three books in her lifetime: _W-3_, and the story collections _Blue in Chicago_ and _Things to Come and Go_. She received a MacArthur Fellowship in 1984, after which she did not publish another book. _Calm Sea and Prosperous Voyage_, her selected stories, was published in 2019, restoring to the canon the work of a remarkable writer.

**Honor Moore** is the author of _Our Revolution_; _The Bishop's Daughter_, a finalist for the National Book Critics Circle Award; and _The White Blackbird_, a New York Times Notable Book; as well as three collections of poems. She lives in New York City.
