### Author Biography

**Jeanne Walker Harvey** lives in Sausalito, California, where she watches the boats on the bay from her house on the hill. She is the award-winning author of several picture books, including _Maya Lin: Artist-Architect of Light and Lines_; _My Hands Sing the Blues: Romare Bearden's Childhood Journey_; _Honey Girl: The Hawaiian Monk Seal_; and _Astro: The Stellar Sea Lion_. Harvey also serves as a docent at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art.

**Grady McFerrin** is an illustrator, designer, and hand-letterer who lives in Los Angeles with his wife and two children. His work has been featured in the _New York Times_ and _The__New Yorker_, as well as in children's and gift books, advertisements, and music posters, and has been recognized by the AIGA, _Communication Arts_, the Society of Illustrators, _Print Magazine_, and American Illustration. _Boats on the Bay_ is his first full-length picture book.
