### Author Biography

**Catherine Ceniza Choy** is professor of ethnic studies at the University of California, Berkeley. Before that, she was an assistant professor of American studies at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities. She is the author of the books _Empire of Care_ and _Global Families_ and the co-editor of the anthology _Gendering the Trans-Pacific World_. An engaged public scholar, she has been interviewed in many media outlets, including _ABC 2020_, _The Atlantic_, CNN, the _Los Angeles Times_, NBC News, the _New York Times_, ProPublica, the _San Francisco Chronicle_, _Time_, and _Vox_.
