**Frané Lessac** is the creator of the companion book _A Is for Australian Animals_ as well as _Under the Milky Way_, _Under the Southern Cross_, and _Island Counting 1 2 3_. She has illustrated numerous books for children, including the Robert F. Sibert Honor Book _We Are Grateful: Otsaliheliga_ by Traci Sorell, _Pattan's Pumpkin_ by Chitra Soundar, and _Midnight: The Story of a Light Horse_ and _The Donkey of Gallipoli_, both by Mark Greenwood. Frané Lessac was born in the United States and now lives in Australia.
